Doula Profile: Ciera

Ciera grew up in Toronto, grounded in the strength and warmth of her Jamaican family. From a young age, she carried a calm, steady presence, the kind that made people feel safe without her even trying.

It was her aunt who first saw the doula in her. With a simple suggestion, she nudged Ciera toward birthwork, sensing that her nurturing energy was meant for something deeper. Curious, Ciera explored the path and instantly felt at home.

When she discovered the CommUnity Doulas Team, everything aligned. Their mission, their heart for families, their commitment to community care, it all matched what Ciera brought into the world. Joining the team felt natural.

Her favourite part of being a doula is witnessing transformation. She loves watching families move from fear to confidence, seeing their strength unfold week by week. Those moments remind her exactly why she said yes to this work.

And when it’s time to refill her own cup, Ciera slips away to the Korean sauna — her all-day sanctuary of warmth, rest, and reset.
