Doula Profile: Fiona

We’re thrilled to shine a light on one of our amazing doulas, Fiona—a compassionate guide and advocate who brings calm, clarity, and deep care to every family she supports.

Fiona is a proud mom, daughter, sister, and auntie. Born, raised, and still serving in the Peel region, she carries the strength of her Jamaican heritage in everything she does. She’s a homesteader at heart, a lover of books, and always down for a good book club or Bible study. You’ll often find her curled up with a warm cup of ginger tea or a cold can of coconut water—either in a cozy corner or soaking up the sun.

While midwifery was her first calling, becoming a doula felt like the right fit.

“I had gained an immense amount of knowledge about childbirth and my own reproductive health that I wanted to share,” she says.
“Doula work allows me to pour into parents for an extended time and in deep, meaningful ways. I’m able to nurture future generations by caring for their parents based on their unique needs and where they are in life. Every family is different.”

Fiona’s “yes” to joining CommUnity Doulas came with excitement and conviction.

“This is a one-of-a-kind program,” she shares.

“Being able to guide, nurture, and support parents for a full year at no cost? As a parent myself, I deeply understand and appreciate the relief that kind of long-term community support brings.”

Her favorite part of the work? The families—and the beautiful, lasting connections they build together.

When it comes to self-care, Fiona has a list of nourishing go-tos. For solitude: prayer, crocheting, journaling, and reading. For connection: quality time with family.

As one of the original and guiding doulas of this program she says to the community “Thank you for trusting us as your doulas. CommUnity Doulas cares about you as whole people, so never hesitate to reach out. We’ll help direct you to the right solution, resource, or contact you need.”
